A day in the life

Maddy loves when Daddy carries her around the house, bounces on the exercise ball with her, and even holds her like a football! She especially loves it when she's a bit gassy and can't settle down.

She also loves going for walks, which puts her right to sleep (although she does like looking up at the trees and tries to fight off sleep as much as possible... she usually loses).

When it's sunny, Daddy is super protective of her delicate skin.... Not to mention playing interference when strangers seem especially interested in Maddy -- "Don't touch!"

She never seems to have a problem falling asleep after feedings, no matter what her position is!

And that yawn!!! Soooo cute!

Out and about

We had a busy day today - photo session with Bruce and a visit from Sandra and Chris!

We took the Emmaljunga out and Maddy joined us for lunch at Whole Foods -- soon enough she wanted her own lunch, so Julia had to maneuver for her first public feeding (thanks to Sandy and Jay for their help!!).

After that morning, she was certainly tuckered out!

Maddy's so strong already!!! When she feels like it, she can hold her head up for a long time.  Even during tummy time, she can propel herself up mommy and daddy's chests by pushing off with her legs!

The umbilical cord has fallen off!

Maddy's umbilical cord fell off today!!

It was hanging on by a thread this morning during her diaper change!  Unfortunately, we noticed some oozing from her bellybutton, which turned out to be an umbilical granuloma.  The pediatrician cauterized the tissue with silver nitrate and now we're just waiting for the remaining stump to dry up!

Although we didn't get a picture of her umbilical cord... we did take her temperature, to make sure there was no infection associated with the remaining cord.

We just can't resist....

We can't seem to stop taking pictures of our little girl!  We've fallen in love with all her little quirks -- the faces she makes and the hand movements she does when she sleeps, her cute yawn, her "serious" face when she furrows her eye brows, not to mention the "turtle," a face she makes when she's done feeding and pulls away raising her eyebrows, extending her neck extended, and pursing her lips.
She is too cute!!

More family visits!!

Maddy got a visit from her great-aunt and uncle (better known as Julia's Ciocia and Wujek)!  Jason was always close by -- making sure that Maddy was being held correctly, watching over all diaper changes, and running at the slightest wimper or noise (lucky for us and her, she was asleep for most of the visit)!
